Our work began in 1998 as the Reading Schools’ Christian Work Trust. It was the vision of Carey Baptist Church and several other churches in Reading to reach out to local schools and show Christian compassion and hope. In 1999, the Trust employed its first worker and received charitable status in 2001. In 2008 we became Learn4Life and continued to grow our team and our work.
Over the last 20 years we’ve been able to send workers, interns and volunteers into schools across Reading. In partnership with church youth workers and Scripture Union we have reached thousands of pupils and hundreds of staff. We have enjoyed support from over a dozen churches from many different denominations and many other individuals who have given generously.
In 2019 we changed our name to Reach with a renewed focus to develop our support of pastoral care and RE curriculums in schools. Our hope is that we can come along side staff and pupils and help them reach their potential so that they thrive during their school life.
Our vision is to see more workers in more schools more often. That’s because we believe building relationships with individuals and schools is key to helping staff and pupils thrive whilst having the best opportunity to learn about the Christian faith together.
